FUR COAT HEIST ALL CHARGES THROWN OUT

After receiving information from a Confidential Informant, the police obtained a warrant to search the client’s home. Inside, they found handguns, marijuana, cash and evidence connected to a break-in at Holt Renfrew. When the Crown refused to identify the Informant, Ms. Page persuaded the Judge that it was unfair to proceed with the charges since this Informant must also be a key witness to proving her client’s innocence. In the end, the Judge found that the client’s Constitutional right to a “full answer and defence” had been violated, and all charges were thrown out.
