YOUTH ACQUITTED OF ASSAULT POLICE AFTER FINDING OF POLICE BRUTALITY

R. v. S. L. | 2013 | O.J. No. 4514

The police arrested Ms. Page’s client for a series of robberies. Back at the Division,
the youth was placed into an interview room for questioning. According to Officer Aikman, the
young man grabbed him and assumed a “blading” stance. Aikman testified
that he hit the youth in the face because he saw his right arm and shoulder move back, and
assumed he was about to be assaulted. After cross-examination by Ms. Page, the Judge rejected
the police officer’s evidence and found the young male not guilty of Assault Police.
